Before you even think of adding paint to a tile floor, learn why preparation is important to generating a lasting finish. If you try to paint tile flooring without prepping it, peeling will follow. Many amateurs don't know how to paint tile flooring and are confused when the tile flooring shed's paint. Avoid finish failure by prepping and painting tile flooring, using the correct techniques. Step 1 Dirty tile flooring will reject primer. Clean tile flooring to prevent adhesion problems. Step 2 Primer won't stick to smooth tile flooring. Scour the tile flooring with sandpaper. Step 3 Protect areas adjacent to your tile flooring, using tape. Protect areas underneath the tile flooring, using canvas drop cloths. Step 4 Coat your tile flooring with acrylic primer. Prime over the tile flooring, using a polyester brush and roller. Let your tile flooring dry two full hours. Step 5 Coat your tile flooring with acrylic floor paint. Paint over the tile flooring, using a polyester brush and roller. Let your tile flooring dry two full hours. Cautions Never prime over tile flooring unless you've sanded it.
